FAQs

How are additional requests outside of my package handled?

Any additional requests for a project, that are not covered in your package, will be billed separately on an ad-hoc basis.

For ongoing work, after your project is launched and live, we also offer a number of monthly retainers.

Are you able to offer back-end development?

We're only able to offer fairly standard back-end functionality. We focus on delivering highly-executed experiences on the front-end that are design-centric.

We're unable to offer complex or heavy back-end development as a service, regarding the back-end we have a very light touch.

We recommend businesses that have more complex back-end requirements to either hire someone (or a team) in-house who has a more intimate understanding of your company, back-end, and infrastructure. Or alternatively, use 3rd-party software/services that cover your unique needs, then we can handle everything on the front-end, design, and content, and then only interface your back-end and integrate when necessary.

Do you use ?

We don't use website builders. We get the job done right, and custom code our websites, with the intention of making it maintainable long-term. You'll have full ownership, it'll be optimised for SEO, and be future-proof.

If you're anything bigger than a micro entity, and an established business, you'll want the power, flexibility, polish, effectiveness and longevity of a custom-built website.

Do you use WordPress CMS?

We don't use WordPress; there'll be no updating of plugins, themes, or dependencies to worry about with the CMS solution we integrate. Our CMS is clean, simple, intuitive, and a breeze to use.

WordPress websites often turn into an unmaintainable mess over time, and whilst they provide some big benefits like having a large selection of plugins, these websites can easily end up in "update and dependency hell", with updates constantly having to be authorised, plugins/themes being abandoned by their authors, incompatibilities, breakages, bloat, technical debt, and not to mention also being terribly insecure - with attackers constantly attempting to access the backend.

Why don't you use Shopify for ecommerce?

We use the open-source alternative, Medusa. Why? It's flexible, open-source, and customisable.

There's no vendor lock-in and you have full ownership of your ecommerce solution which you can tailor to your specific needs without the limitations imposed by proprietary platforms.

And unlike Shopify, which has a more rigid, monolithic structure, Medusa allows complete control over the tech stack, providing unparalleled flexibility in design and functionality.

What's the benefit of building websites/apps and serverless?

We build all our websites headless and serverless, meaning they're blazing fast to load, and have unparalleled flexibility and unmatched maintainability. With no servers to manage it simplifies development, and ensures your website is extremely secure.

Why do you opt for solutions?

Wherever possible we opt for open-source solutions for the tools, services, and libraries we build with. Solutions that are widely adopted, often used by millions with a great deal of community collaboration and support, and likely not going away anytime soon!

Do you develop mobile apps?

Not in the traditional sense, no. We can develop apps (PWAs) that work universally for any device in the browser.

They're basically websites, but with app-like functionality. They're cost-effective, installable, and offer ultimate freedom with no vendor lock-in like on proprietary tech-giant platforms like Google's Android or Apple's iOS (which also charge fees up to 30% on any sales!).

There'll be no need for complex setups with a separate website and app for your project, it'll be all in one place in a single codebase, simple!

Can we dictate the tech-stack you build our website with?

Unfortunately not.

We're a small team, with an established tech-stack that we use for all our websites, allowing us to build faster and focus our knowledge and efforts, and easily keep up-to-date with all the latest updates, solutions, and fixes.

Can you work on my existing website?

Unfortunately not.

We're a boutique web design and development agency, and only work on websites and apps we've built ourselves.

Can we bring our own website design?

Possibly. We'd have to see it first, but once we've developed it we'd take over on the design.

Can you create visually extravagant websites?

We might be able to.

Generally, we build websites that are artistic yet practical, and that aren't over-the-top creative.

Websites that just focus on being an interactive story or major spectacle often require more specialised software/services that we don't use and that we're not trained in either. They tend to have a disregard towards useability, functionality, performance and SEO, too.

Do you optimise for SEO?

We do. As standard we optimise your Technical SEO and Local SEO (and optionally your On-page SEO).

And unlike many other web design agencies, we'll ensure to fully and properly markup your website and content with Schema, so search engines can better understand it, essential in the age of AI-driven search.

Are the websites you build secure?

Website security is becoming more of a concern these days, but no need to worry with how we build our websites, the architecture we use is fundamentally super secure.

We'll make sure to protect your website against common security vulnerabilities and prevent spam reaching your inbox from web forms.

There'll be no need to worry about it getting hacked!

Will you be available long-term to maintain our project?

Absolutely! We don't have any plans of going away.
